The Chess Rules

Chess is one of the renowned mind games. It is a wonderful game and it helps to improve ones skills more effectively. The goal in this game is to checkmate the king. It occurs when the king is captured (in check) and when there is no way to escape from capture. The ultimate aim in the game is to win by trapping your opponent’s king.

Chessboard is made up of eight rows and eight columns with a total of 64 squares of black and white in color. In the beginning the board should be placed in a way that light squares are positioned on the extreme lower right hand side of the board. All the pieces are to be kept basis there designations and positions and all knights in the second row.

Follow these:

•White players are always first to move
•Players to move alternatively one piece at a time
•Each piece has its own specified movement and could be moved to another position or to capture an opponent’s piece.
•With total 8 pawns who are the least powerful however capability to become most powerful you cannot move backward or sideways.
•One exception to Pawn other than the guideline of moving g one square each time, they can move forward two squares as long as there are no obstructing pieces.
•Rooks are one of the powerful pieces and grouped with the queen and has legacy to move any number of squares in a straight line
•Knight – The only piece on the have board that can jump over other pieces
•Then it’s the bishop who can move any number of squares only diagonally until it’s prevented from continuing by another piece. Bishops are closed to equal to a knight or 3 pawns when it comes to the powers
•Queen – By the virtue of the name has all the innate powers and can move any squares in any direction. For the same reason she is worth sacrificing a rook and bishop than to give up a queen.
•King – The most powerful of all on the chessboard and to be guarded very closely. King is the most vital as if he is lost you have lost the game. Watch you’re King closely and the restriction to his position that he may be captured by an opposing piece.
